Privacy policy
What the fable extension and fable.market collect, what they never touch, and how to get your data deleted. Last updated October 2, 2026, for fable 0.27.3.
The short version
fable reads the accounts, posts and contracts on your X timeline so it can label them. To do that it sends what is on your screen to fable's servers and gets labels back. By default it also shares the public posts and accounts you scroll past, so checks get faster and sharper for everyone. You can turn that off in one switch.
We never collect your direct messages, bookmarks, notifications or passwords. We do not sell data, we do not run ads, and the website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
The extension
The extension only runs on x.com and twitter.com. It asks Chrome for one permission, storage, plus access to those two sites and to fable's own servers (api.fable.market and intel.fable.market).
Labels. To label what you are looking at, the extension sends fable the posts on your screen (author, text, links, contract addresses) and the handles or contracts you open or look up. fable sends back its verdicts. These requests carry no account, login or device ID.
Help improve Fable. X's web app already loads public posts, profiles and follow lists as you browse. With the setting Help improve Fable on, which it is by default, the extension keeps a small set of fields from that public data and sends it to fable. It never sends:
- anything about you: your own profile, your posts, replies to you, posts that mention you, or your own follower and following lists
- direct messages, bookmarks, notifications, ads or anything about who you follow
- anything at all if the extension cannot tell which account is yours
Uploads carry no identifier for you and are capped at 20,000 items a day. Turn the switch off in the extension's settings and nothing is shared from then on.
On your device. These stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere:
- your settings
- your daily counts and the list of recently flagged posts
- a local copy of follow lists you have viewed
- the X account you are signed in to, used only to leave you out of everything above
- copies of fable's answers, so scrolling stays fast: verdicts for up to 6 hours, and the last 80 contract and account lookups until newer ones replace them
The Clear button in the extension's Account tab deletes your counts, the flagged list, the follow-list copy and the linked account. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored.
The website
Early access. If you join the waitlist we store your email address, the date, the country your connection comes from, and a one-way hash of your IP address that we use to stop spam signups. We use your email only to send you early access and updates about fable.
Live check. When you look up an account, post or contract on fable.market/check, our server fetches the public X data for it through FxTwitter and asks fable for its verdicts. We cache those public answers for a few minutes. We keep no record of who looked up what.
Cookies and tracking. fable.market sets no cookies and runs no analytics or ad scripts. Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address like any web request.
Reports and submissions
Sending reports to fable is coming in an update. When it opens, this section will say exactly what a report stores and for how long.
Who else sees it
We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. The services that handle data for us are Cloudflare, which hosts fable.market and fable's servers, and FxTwitter, which receives only the public handle or post you look up on the live check. We will disclose data if the law requires it.
fable's use of information received from the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep waitlist emails until you ask us to remove them. Public X data and confirmed labels stay in fable's database as long as they are useful for flagging accounts and contracts. Reports that are rejected stay in our private records so we can spot repeat abuse.
To see, correct or delete data about you, or to ask us to review a label on your account, email hello@fable.market. Corrections and removals are free.
Children and changes
fable is not meant for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page. Big changes will also be announced on @FableDotMarket.
